I would like to start the 2025 monthly blogs by thanking all of you for your valued custom over Christmas, you enabled it to be a very busy and positive season! January can be a short month with the post-Christmas return to work cutting well into the second week of the month for some. However, after Christmas we had a swift turnaround on site and focus has since been on our events and activities for 2025.
Please take a moment to see the headlines on the website and more details will follow. The annual Plant Hunters Fair, Open Farm Sunday, Seasonal Supper Clubs and Pumpkins to name a few, are all in the planning. As always, we will be sourcing new products and producers for the shop, new dishes for the menus, (did you try our breakfast stack, available last week to honour Farmhouse Breakfast Week?) and special promotions and offers. Next up, some Valentine's treats, both sweet and savoury, in the coming weeks.
Advance notice for the Summer, we also intend to hit the road again and have a presence at one or two of our local county shows, so please keep checking in on our website and look out for our weekly emails for further details of what’s happening at Battlefield 1403.
On the farm, the drier conditions have allowed us to make good progress with ground improvements including hedgerow coppicing and restoration, stock fence reinstatement and ditching work. All very valuable work to ensure the future of our countryside.
